Behind The Scenes with NBM

Behind The Scenes w/New Beginnings is our opportunity to share the many activities and community involvements we are a part of in the San Marcos and surrounding areas. Sometimes ministry will take you, "behind the scenes," to make statements, honoring achievements and show love in the most remote places.

Ms. Ollie's Store

Others and I, commissioned and worked with the City of San Marcos mural commission to create a mural to honor Ms. Ollie's work, love for the community, and legacy. The city commissioned muralist Ryan Runcie from Austin Texas to help tell her story to the community and city. Ms. Ollie's store located at 404 Centre St San Marcos Texas 78666.

This store is currently Sacred Craft Tattoos. The store's location is open to tourists and easily accessible to the public. Creating a mural on this store allows tourists to learn more about the history of the store and her contribution to the Historical Dunbar community. This project also helps preserve the integrity and rich history of our community. The QR Code lets you to listen to previously recorded stories from various people from the Dunbar community who knew her from that time period. You will be able to hear passionate stories about "what Ms. Ollie meant to them."

You view the original painting at the Calaboose African American History Museum beginning Sept 1, 2024. A special, thank you, to Chance Sparks, the current owner for giving us creative liberties to make this project the, "Talk of the town!" Thank you so much for trusting us with your store!

New Beginnings Ministries is honored to be apart of this historic project in the Dunbar Community.
